5 things I learned at The Blog Societies Conference

The Blog Societies Conference

Hello everyone! Last August 9th-11th I attended The Blog Societies Conference in Alpharetta, Georgia.
It was my first time assisting at the conference and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was amazed by the organizers, they were into every single detail. Plus the content they shared in the workshops was extremely helpful, no matter what stage of your blogger career you are at.

These are the 5 things I learned that will help me to take my blog to the next step!

1)Education is key!
Educating yourself is key. Invest in your education, it will pay forward. I learned about so many topics regarding negotiation, taxes, and even how to take that perfect Instagram picture, that my investment will be totally worth it in the long run.

2)Get out of your comfort zone!
Yes, this is a big one! You will be surrounded by so many amazing businesswomen that if you don’t force yourself to connect you’ll probably take full advantage of the opportunity.

3)Network, network, network!
Blogging is just like any other industry, networking is fundamental. The organizers did an amazing job with all the brands that were part of the event. Don’t miss out on that chance!
While talking to our fellow bloggers it’s amazing, connecting with all the brand representatives it’s a must.

4) Brands, do care!
I’m fairly new to the blogging world but I have encountered a few times with brands that don’t know how to work with influencers. I was pleasantly surprised to know that there are brands out there that do know how to work with us. Don’t let the brands that don’t, take advantage of you or your hard work. This takes me back to my first topic, education is key!

5)You don’t need to rebrand!
You might be thinking what did I miss? Let me explain, while I was at the workshops I was bombarded with plenty of new information. Some were really helpful for my blog style, but some of the information was for a different niche than mine. You need to understand that you might face other blog styles and that the content shared might not always fit your needs. That being said, don’t start a DIY section if it’s not something you feel comfortable doing. Rebranding is not always the answer.
