Age-defying skincare: 10 Step Skincare routine

There is no secret that our skin is our body’s largest organ. To ignore that would be a complete miss. So, today I have this Age-defying skincare routine. I really like taking care of my skin and I love it even more when people ask me about the products I like to try.

To begin with, you need to have in mind that skincare is a commitment. There’s no easy one-step solution that will replace years of not attending to your skin needs. Not even Botox!

Yes, you can get Botox to help improve your wrinkles, but Botox will not improve dull skin. Or avoid you from getting sun spots o melasma. On the other hand, if there is one thing I would like to get from this post take your skincare as a time for yourself. During this, enjoy the process.

That’s why I’m sharing my current skincare routine with every single step for those of you who are skincare enthusiasts like myself. I experienced how adding these additional steps improved my overall skin appearance. I would like you to experience some of those benefits as well.

Morning skincare routine

Disclaimer: The products have listed the order in which you should be applying your products. The idea always goes from thinner consistency to thicker (serums first and the moisturizer and oils)

  1. Water-based cleanser or plain water: I like to use a very gentle face cleanser or just water since your skin is clean for a skin routine. If my skin seems oily, I go ahead and use a face cleanser; if not, then water would be more than enough. Make sure when using a foam cleanser to rub it in your hands to create the foam. Do not apply it directly to your skin.
  2. Toner: This is the step you need to balance your skin PH level; if you use a cleanser that is gentle enough, you can skip this step. The Cleansing Micellar Foaming Water Face Wash respects the skin PH level. I use it anyways, and this MISSHA Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence/Toner is my favorite.
  3. Exfoliate: You can exfoliate your skin once or twice a week with a gentle exfoliator and try something stronger every other week. I use the DERMALOGY by NEOGENLAB Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Green Tea every other day.
  4. Essence: I can testify that this step is what I believe made a significant change in how glowy my skin looks. I like to apply it with my hands and tap it all around my face and neck. Give it a few weeks to see a difference. The Neogen Essence for daily use and alternate it between some the following when I feel my skin needs extra hydration.
  5. Serums: For daytime, I like using vitamin C serums. The only issue that I have is that it’s tough for me to find a vitamin C serum that won’t break me out. So far, the one that has been working great is the La Roche Possay Vitamin C serum. This one has an acne-prone skin formula. The only thing I don’t like that much is that it has a powerful scent. This is perfect for an incredible skincare routine. You can apply a second layer of another serum I like to apply La Roche Possay Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid, this serum also needs to tap into the skin. It will leave your skin sticky if you do not like that you can skip this step.
  6. Eye Cream: I only use eye cream at nighttime, and only if I want to target a specific concern. Such as puffiness or I want an extra lift for a night out or an event. For those cases, my all-time favorite is La Mer eye serum is a basic in my skincare routine.
  7. Moisturizer: I like using different types of moisturizer depending on how my skin feels and also depending on the weather. I love La Mer Creme Orignal, but for hot summers in Texas is a little bit too much on my skin. So I’m adding some of my favorite moisturizers below.
  8. One time use masks: Here you can go wild with them, there are so many options. The idea is to treat your skin with different ingredients according to what it needs. Sometimes an Aloe mask will do the trick, or you need some serious detox. When I see my skin has some mild breakouts, I like using a detox mask that will control those.
  9. Sunscreen: This is the one step that no one should skip. If you are serious about taking care of your skin, you need to make sure you are using sunscreen daily. Especially if you are doing any treatment for acne, some type of acid, or mostly if you are suffering from melasma like me. I will work on that topic in a different post. My all-time favorite is the ISDIN mineral sunscreen. If you want to, it also has a tinted version that I like.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and that it might inspire you to give your skin the attention that it needs. You can also read more about the best skin care products for your 30s here.
